Apolipoprotein E (apo E) is an integral protein of high density lipoproteins (HDL) active in the lipid metabolism. Polymorphisms in this protein are an important risk factor for the development of many diseases, including Alzheirmer, colon cancer, aterosclerosis, etc. Apolipoprotein E presents three common isoforms (E2, E3 and E4) distinct from each other by the content of cysteine and arginine at positions of codon 112 and codon 158 of exon 4.
This kit contains typing strips with dried primers mixes and PCR Master Mix for typing of polymorphism C112R and C158R of APOE gene.
