Coxiella burnetti is an intracellular Gram-negative bacteria known to be the
causative agent of Q fever. This bacterium is highly resistant to environmental
stress and are not easily eliminated by high temperatures, common
disinfectants and light ultavioleta . The bacteria can be isolated during the acute
phase from blood, lung, spleen and liver of infected animals, and the uterus and
mammary glands, in the chronic phase of infection by Coxiella burnetti.
Coxiella burnetti Qual PCR Box 1.0 detects the gene encoding the protein
Superoxide dismutase from bacteria.
